Moving Forward with New Office Locations, Committees

Dear Colleagues,

During the first few weeks of 2017, the Financial and Administrative Services staff is hitting its stride as we began to make strategic moves, literally and figuratively.

Some of our affiliated units, including Accounting, Budget Office, Business Contracts, Communications, and Purchasing, moved into different spaces within the Main and UTA buildings. New locations bring previously separated team members into office spaces that provide greater collaboration without interruption of delivering excellent service daily to our students, faculty, staff and visitors.

In addition, standardization of policy practices and steps toward creating a FAS culture are taking shape as I have designated committee liaisons and members to begin work on the following topics (more details here):

  • Communication Device Allowances (CDAs)
  • Telecommuting
  • Staff Awards

In addition, I continue to meet with the university’s operations teams within our affiliated units to learn more about their organizations, get to know their employees, and understand how their hard work supports the university’s mission.

Over the coming weeks, we will launch a newsletter that will replace some of these types of emails in order to keep you informed on FAS news and updates, and provide a forum for our staff to learn what’s going on within the portfolio on a firsthand basis.

Our portfolio’s leadership will meet this quarter to begin identifying our overarching values, mission, and organizational culture. While we work through this process, we also will continue to deliberate on key goals, structures, and metrics. I will continue to keep you updated on our progress as these activities evolve.
